Donnie Simpson, 32 year vetran of the DC airwaves, signed off on Friday morning. WPGC studios had a party like atmosphere in their offices as celebs from across the US called in to tell Donnie Simpson goodbye and share their thanks with Donnie Simpson for what a pioneer he had been in radio.
Donnie Simpson was first on the airwaves as a teen in Detroit before he came to Washington. Donnie Simpson was heard on 93.9 WKYS for 16 years before the Donnie Simpson mornign show moved to WPGC 95.5. Donnie Simpson has been at WPGC for the past 16 years since 1993.
Reportedly Donnie Simpson's contract negotiations fell through with CBS Radio, and due to a non-compete clause, Donnie Simpson will not be allowed to work on air in Washington for more than a year.
